Freehold Borough is home to the Metz Bicycle Museum, where the only existing "Zimmy" can be seen. Freehold Township is also just 12 miles from Belmar on the Jersey Shore and is a popular summer destination for beach goers from the area. Additional points of interest in Freehold include the Monmouth County Historical Association, the harness races at the Freehold Raceway and the historic St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Area parks within the township include Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Turkey Swamp Park and Michael J. Tighe Park providing assorted recreational opportunities. Freehold has become known throughout the state for its various events. From Antiquefest to the Summer Concert Series to Kruise Night, there is something for everyone. Residents can buy sun-ripened, freshly picked fruits and vegetables directly from the farmers at the Freehold Farmer's market in the summer. For music lovers, the Freehold Rocks! Concert Series features widely known groups and local talent featured every Thursday in the summer.


Public school students in kindergarten through eighth grade are educated by the Freehold Township Elementary and Middle Schools. Public high school students attend either Freehold Township High School or Freehold High School (based on their home address), as part of the Freehold Regional High School District. Freehold Borough's nearly 1,400 students in public school attend Freehold Learning Center, Park Avenue Elementary School and Freehold Borough Intermediate School. Students in public school for grades 9-12 attend Freehold High School. The Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) also serves students from area townships.
